Been camping here since I was 16 with my parents now the wife and I camp here with our children! WONDERFUL scenery and access to the glacial trails short distance from an amazing little white picket community amazing fireworks on the fourth awesome little home town style carnival every july the people in the community as well as the people I've encountered over the years at the campground are always polite and courteous my favorite place to camp by far

You can't buy firewood onsite, but there's a large brush pile near the group camp site south of the main camping area from which firewood can be scavenged; additionally, as you approach the campground on Mud Lake Rd., you'll find that some of the farm houses sell fire wood. This is a serene little place: during the middle of the week or during the spring or fall, you may often find yourself the only one there. There's nothing fancy about it, but I always enjoy the privacy and quiet. Mud Lake adjoins the campground; it's a small drainage lake with a mucky bottom, and not suited for swimming. On the other hand, Mud Lake is open for fishing. There are various types of pan fish and the DNR stocks it with Northern Pike and Walleye.

This is my favorite campground within 50 miles from Madison. The camp sites are located under tall oak trees within a Prairie landscape that provides privacy for campers. Firewood can be delivered by a boy scout straight to your site. The lake is nearby. Do note that there are no showers at the campground.

I've camped at Sandhill Station several times, all in conjunction with biking the Glacial Drumlin bike trail. The campground is located in a grove of oak trees and is designed for tenters. None of the the sites have electricity and there is no campground host. Water and toilets are onsite and available year round, but showers are located in Lake Mills, about 1 mile away from the campground. Showers are open from the middle of April to the middle of November.

Quiet. Beautiful. Easy to find. Showers nearby. Water available.
